Redbrick Builders Club Lego Volunteer

Through inventions, engineering, archaeology, and creativity, families who attend our ‘Lightbulb Summer: Redbrick Builders Club’ will explore extraordinary objects and stories from the ‘Lightbulb moments’ museum displays before bringing their own ideas to life through LEGO.

As a VG&M volunteer, you would support the Learning Team by taking part in our four LEGO  building activities during the summer holidays.

What's involved?

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Learning Team with preparing the LEGO and making some examples prior to the sessions.
  • Encourage visitors to explore themes and objects from the Lightbulb Moments exhibition.
  • Help to support children and families with LEGO building challenges and creative activities with the Learning Team.
  • Help explain activity instructions and encourage participation.
  • Assist with setting up and tidying away LEGO materials and activity spaces.

Skills and Qualities

  • Friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic.
  • Enjoys working with children, families, and diverse audiences.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative and encouraging, with an interest in learning through play.
  • Reliable and able to work as part of a team.

Time Commitment

  • Dates - There will be 4 sessions during the summer holidays on Wednesdays – 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th August
  • Times – Each shift is four hours, 11am-2pm (with half an hour set up and half an hour pack away time included).
    Sessions are open to the public from 11:30-1:30pm

    This can be a LEGO build, a drawing or a description of what you would make and why.
    Please also let us know which dates you are available during the summer (Wednesday 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th August, 11am-2pm)
